C.A.E.P. Testimonial – Christy Desir

This summer I got hired to work for the College Application Project for 4 weeks this summer through the Lynn Summer Youth Program. I was told it would be doing office work.

On my first day I met Arthur Aakers, the current president and founder of the C.A.E.P. He was the top head, firm, stable, and encouraging. He would say what to do and we did. I worked alongside two young ladies, Juleika and Jhady. Very helpful and resourceful girls. I also worked alongside Bernice “The Goat”. One of the sweetest and supportive lady you’ll ever meet. Throughout the summer,we did an interview with Lynn Community Television in which we discussed what the C.A.E.P. was about and the services offered. That was my first televised interview.

We also did research on colleges and scholarships and  organized events, made calls, interviews, and more.

Events were organised by discussion, making, printing and lastly passing out flyers. The first event we planned was a Fashion Workshop for August 5th, 2026. On that day, someone came in and taught us a lesson on how to care for our hair, nails and fashion tips on how to style and outfit.  Our second and final event I was involved in was a Cooking Event. On that day a certified cook, Sebrina with an E, had a cooking class. This day was overbusy, with cooking food such as oxtails, chicken, mac and cheese and more. We also had desserts, cornbread, banana pudding and sweet potato pie.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the College Application Project to young students and young adults thinking about applying to college. It will help with research, scholarships and financing college. It will also give you much experience with office work such as organization, making calls, interviews, and much more.

Thank You C.A.E.P
